Exclusive Tattooed Chicks Interview With Bif Naked

Where were you born and raised?
|
How long have you been in the music business, and is it something you had always wanted to do?
I have been fortunate enough to make music for a living for over eighteen years, now. I always thought I would be in the performing arts and that is basically what I have always done. I will always find a way to feed myself and feed my family through my different artistic endeavors, and music is the best medium for me to currently work in. Aside from music and touring, what do you to let your hair down? When I want to relax or let my hair down (so to speak) I enjoy movement with yoga and weight training and I am constantly in my kitchen, making sacred vegan food for everyone in the village!!!!!!!!! I love being at home in Vancouver as there is an abundance of hippy-dippy activities and stimulation for me. |

How old were you when you had your first tattoo, and what was it?
I got my first tattoo as a teenager (bad girl!) And it was the All-Seeing-Eye (Eye of Horace) the Mother of Truth: the Egyptian eye. Do you have plans for anymore ink? I am constantly scheming for my next tattoo!!! Hahhaa! I would love a big Krishna backpiece or my fiancee's name on my neck! :) |
|
Do you think people treat you differently for being heavily tattooed?
I have been a tattooed person for all of my adult life, so I really have no basis of comparison for how people would have treated me differently. I did find a difference, however, when I had my various lip rings over twelve years ago. People were apprehensive at times and even though it may have been intended, on some level, as a bit of a coat of armour- as soon as I opened my mouth and spewed my peace-and-love energy, it all went away and people were always receptive. I've never found my tattoos to bother anyone. Not even my sweet mother. Is there anybody over the years that has influenced you and made you into who you are today? All our experiences and all the people we meet help to shape us. But I believe we are born with our character enshrouded in destiny. Your character is your destiny. There are people who have inspired me greatly. From my mother to Sai Baba to Henry Rollins to my late fishies-Yasu and Swami and Gopal. I find everyone we ever encounter, be they good or bad, has something to teach us. |

What's next musically speaking for Bif Naked? I have been writing music with intention of singing it for everyone. I guess that's called making a record. Hahhaa! I am hoping to release the new material within a year. Then I will tour with that new material and put on some hellafine rock-n-roll extravaeganzas!!!!! Is there anything else you wish to say? I would just always like to say to be mindful and remember that the majority of the people on our planet do not have the option of eating or living without fear....never mind the luxury of sitting down to read a magazine article! So feel happy no matter what little personal dramas we all have. Our lives are fucking beautiful. We are so lucky. Everything is a blessing. Everything. |
